Facing the upcoming travel frenzy during May Day holidays, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended that citizens returning from a trip should isolate for 14 days and must take precautions to prevent infecting others. If there are symptoms of COVID-19, people should seek medical advice in time and inform doctors of their travel history. 

According to the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, the combination of factors such as the effective prevention and control of the domestic COVID-19 epidemic and the strong recovery of the economy, have led to a high demand for travel during the five-day May Day holidays with the national passenger flow expected to reach 250 million.

The Chinese CDC points out that China still needs to continue focusing on prevention of COVID-19 during the May Day holidays due to the high risk of imported COVID-19 cases during this period.

Although most places in China are currently COVID-19 low risk areas, the virus continues to be prevalent in many countries and regions around the world. Some countries have even experienced a sharp rebound in infections in addition to the fact that vaccination rates are still low in the vast majority of countries. The immunity barrier will not be achieved in the short term, the CDC noted.

The CDC made a call to people to avoid crowded confined spaces and poorly ventilated areas during holiday travel and wear a mask on airplanes, trains and other public transportation. 

The CDC believes it is essential for people to continuously monitor their own health and asked citizens to seek medical attention if they develop COVID-related symptoms and to take precautions against infecting others.

At the same time, people should also receive the COVID-19 vaccine during the holidays and should not delay with the second dose because of travel, the CDC reminded.

“五一”假日期间，境外疫情呈高强度流行态势的可能性大，我国境内面临的疫情输入风险依然较大。应避免前往疫情流行及中高风险地区，特别是避免非必要的跨境旅行。继续做好自我防护，坚持“防疫三件套”：坚持佩戴口罩、社交距离、个人卫生；牢记“防护五还要”：口罩还要戴、社交距离还要留、咳嗽喷嚏还要遮、双手还要经常洗、窗户还要尽量开。

旅行期间，尽量避免到人群聚集、空间密闭、通风较差场所活动。持续做好自我健康监测，出现可疑症状时，及时就诊，并做好防范感染他人的措施。已接种过第1剂新冠疫苗者，不要因为旅行影响到第2剂的接种。

旅行期间，乘坐飞机、火车、汽车、轮船等交通工具时要遵守秩序和乘务人员管理要求，全程佩戴口罩，做好手卫生，并妥善保存票据以便查询。如旅途过程中出现头痛、乏力、嗅觉味觉减退或丧失、干咳、发热等症状，做好防范感染他人的措施，应立即到就近的医疗机构就诊，并取消或中止旅行。

旅行归来应自我观察14天，一旦出现可疑症状，做好防范感染他人的措施，及时就医并主动告知医生自己的旅行史。

此外，节假日期间还应按照安排接种疫苗，特别是第2剂应在首剂接种后3周及以上至8周内尽早完成，尽量不要因为旅行影响第2剂的接种。

JD.com start to pay salary by digital yuan

Chinese e-commerce company JD.com has paid some employees with the digital yuan as the country’s central bank looks to expand the scope of its use.

The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) began work on the digital currency/electronic payment (DC/EP) in 2014. Also known the digital yuan or e-CNY, the digital currency is a way to replace coins and cash in circulation and is primarily focused on domestic use. 

The digital yuan has not been rolled out nationwide yet, but the PBOC has carried out a number of trials across major cities in China. These pilot projects are conducted in the form of lotteries where the digital yuan is handed out to residents of a city for them to spend at certain retailers. JD.com has participated in these trials.

On Sunday, JD.com said in a blog post it had cooperated with the PBOC on the digital currency trials. The company also said it used the electronic money to pay salaries for some of its employees in January. JD revealed that it used the DC/EP to make payments to other businesses, too.

JD’s efforts highlight new uses for China’s digital currency. It comes after PBOC Deputy Governor Li Bo said earlier this month that the central bank will be looking to increase the scope of trials for the currency. This could include allowing foreign visitors and athletes at the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022 to use the digital yuan.

China’s digital yuan is not a cryptocurrency like bitcoin. Instead, it is issued by the central bank. China has taken the lead with so-called central bank digital currencies as other monetary authorities around the world explore issuing their own.

京东已用数字人民币发工资

2021年1月，京东集团试点数字人民币发薪，为常驻上海、深圳、成都、长沙、西安的部分员工发放了首批数字人民币工资。

员工可以将数字人民币工资存入个人银行卡，也可在试点城市的数字人民币线下受理场景使用，同时可在京东App购买自营商品时使用。

Hong Kong residents will be eligible to return from anywhere in mainland without quarantine from Thursday

All Hong Kong residents living in mainland will be eligible to return to the city from Thursday without undergoing 14-day quarantine if they have tested negative for the coronavirus, officials have announced.

But the one-way arrangement under an expansion of the “Return2HK” scheme will not be reciprocal at this stage, with the government admitting that mainland authorities still see Hong Kong as a risky area when it comes to Covid-19.

Lifted as part of the government’s Return2HK scheme, mandatory 14-day quarantine will not apply on a widespread basis for the first time in more than a year.

It allows Hong Kong residents to come back from anywhere on the mainland without spending any time in coronavirus-related confinement.

香港“回港易”免隔离范围扩大至全国！

根据现行政策，身处内地的香港居民，若通过“回港易”系统预约返回香港，则可以单向豁免在香港隔离14天，截至目前已有13.59万人次因该政策受益，但目前仅限抵达香港前14天身处广东省或者澳门的香港居民。对此许多在粤澳之外的香港居民若想免隔离回港，依旧需要在广东或澳门自行逗留14天。但是今天公布的新政，将适用范围扩大。

1. 适用范围扩大

扩展到身在内地其他所有省市的香港居民；申请者必须是18岁以上香港居民，但每名申请人最多可为3名家人申请，包括未成年小童及长者；

2. 抵达前条件

抵达香港前14天没去过内地、澳门、香港以外的地方，以及内地中高风险地区；

3. “抵港前14天的定义”

抵达香港前如果你在内地或者澳门隔离，那么请注意，隔离时间不会被计算在抵港前的14天中（比如5月1日开始在内地隔离，5月14日结束隔离，那么至少要在5月28日才可以参加回港易计划）
